Leadership and human pain
“There are moments in moist love when heaven is jealous of what we on earth can do.
And there are gods who would trade their lives to have a heart that can know human pain,
because our sufferings will allow us to become greater than any world or deity”
(Hafiz)
Viktor Frankl, a renowned psychiatrist who underwent a lot of human suffering in concentration camps developed the strength to not only cope with the situation, but also to find meaning in its unavoidable suffering; he helped his fellow companions and continues to do so today through his legacy: Logotherapy methodology, the art of finding meaning in unbearable suffering.
As human beings, Life offers us situations that can really challenge the edges of our comfort, and sense of wellbeing. Some of these are unavoidable, and these are the ones that Viktor Frankl invites us to explore wholeheartedly in search for meaning. Some others are re-created from our past history, ancestry, collective consciousness, and Life is constantly inviting us to liberate ourselves from our own individual/collective prison. This is the journey of being a conscious leader, to have the courage to feel into suffering, and develop the awareness to raise above automatic mental structures and patterns to find new ways of behaving, operating, and inspiring others through that.
